What to Expect
Before Your Session
Babies come on their own schedule, so when you book, we’ll reserve a tentative date based on your due date. This will hold your spot in my calendar! After your baby arrives, we’ll finalize the session date within the first 7–14 days to capture those sweet newborn details while your baby is sleepy and naturally curled up.
If those first two weeks aren’t possible, don’t worry. Beautiful newborn portraits can be created at any stage. Older babies are often more awake, alert, and expressive, resulting in a different style of imagery. That’s the beauty of lifestyle photography!
After booking, you’ll receive a personalized session guide with everything you need to prepare, including wardrobe recommendations, color palettes, and simple tips for preparing your home. Newborn sessions are scheduled during midday when your home has the most beautiful natural light.
During Your Session
Every baby has their own rhythm, so my sessions are baby-led, allowing for a relaxed experience with plenty of room for feeding, soothing, and connection. I take a natural, baby-led approach to newborn photography, keeping posing simple and letting your baby’s comfort guide the session. We’ll capture a mix of family portraits, candids, and baby details!
After Your Session
Your images will be carefully selected and professionally edited to create timeless portraits in my signature style. Photos will be delivered through a private online gallery, giving you immediate access to download and preserve your memories.

When should I book newborn photos?
The best time to book is during your second or third trimester to ensure availability around your due date. When you reserve your session, we’ll choose a tentative date based on your due date. Once your baby arrives, we’ll adjust the session date to take place within the first 7–14 days whenever possible.
What age is best for newborn photos?
For those sleepy, curled-up newborn portraits, I recommend scheduling your session within the first 7–14 days after birth. During this time, many babies sleep deeply and are less likely to wake during posing and transitions.
If your baby is older than two weeks, don’t worry—it’s absolutely still a wonderful time for photos. Older newborns are typically more awake, allowing us to capture their growing personality, sweet expressions, and the beautiful connection between your family. The style of the session is simply a little different.
Can we keep or child’s photos private?
Absolutely. I understand that every family has a different level of comfort when it comes to sharing images online. A model release is included with your session agreement, giving me permission to use select images for my portfolio, website, and social media. If you prefer to keep your portraits private, you may opt out, and your wishes will always be respected.
What time will my newborn session take place?
Newborn sessions typically take place around midday when your home has the most beautiful natural light. We’ll use the brightest spaces in your home—often the nursery, master bedroom, or main living areas—to create warm, timeless portraits while following your baby’s pace.
What should I wear?
After booking, you’ll receive a Newborn Session Style Guide with wardrobe inspiration and tips for coordinating your family’s outfits.
What if my baby cries or won’t settle?
Newborn sessions are completely baby-led. We move at your baby’s pace, with plenty of time for feeding, diaper changes, soothing, and cuddles whenever they’re needed. Some of the most meaningful images happen in those quiet moments of comforting your baby, so there’s never any pressure to rush or force a pose. My goal is for you to relax and enjoy this special time together while I document it naturally.
Do you provide newborn outfits?
I provide a small selection of wraps, outfits, and styling pieces for your session, but most families have an outfit or swaddle they’d like to incorporate, too!
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to reschedule your session, please reach out as soon as possible. Your retainer may be applied to one future session within six months when at least 24 hours’ notice is provided. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your session and no-shows cannot be rescheduled. Full details are included in your signed contract.
Can siblings be included in the photos?
Yes! My newborn sessions are family-centered with time for family portraits and siblings interactions.
