Hi, I’m Rachael, a mom of four, storyteller, and photographer based in Northern California. I draw inspiration from the light and landscapes of California and my grandmother’s photo archives.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me gardening, writing, or exploring thrift stores. I’m an introvert raised by extroverts and one of seven siblings, so I feel at home in lively family settings.
My Story
In 2010, I moved to Northern California, following my husband, a native of Winters. When we welcomed our first daughter, I began blogging as a creative outlet. My husband gave me a Nikon DSLR and a fifty-millimeter lens, and I went to work learning the art of photography.
In 2016, I began taking clients while continuing to blog. I also started writing and photographing for a homeschool magazine, creating essays, tutorials, and photos that connected with families like mine. Working for the magazine taught me how to think strategically about imagery; how to capture a story, convey a mood, and create images that support a brand or publication.
That same year, we started homeschooling, which became a central part of our lives for the next ten years, shaping both my writing and photography.
Over time, my work expanded beyond blogging and magazine essays. In 2019 and 2020, my images were featured in books published by HarperCollins.
Today, my photography and writing reach readers through a thriving Substack newsletter on faith and motherhood of over 5,000 subscribers, as well as a long-standing Instagram community.
Your Story
Photography is just one of the ways I tell stories. Whether I’m writing an essay, sharing a blog post, or capturing a mini session, my goal is the same: to honor your story. My camera is a tool for sharing experiences, and I’m honored to share yours!
